In 1971, he moved to the U.S. as a member of the legendary folk group "THE NEW FRONTIERS.
In 1972, they made their U.S. debut as "East," a folk-rock group incorporating Japanese instruments.
After returning to Japan, he made his album debut in 1974 as a singer-songwriter with "Kokoro" and started his career as a guitarist, arranger, and producer.
As a leading acoustic guitarist, he has participated in many hit albums by artists such as Miyuki Nakajima, Yumi Matsutoya, Masashi Sada, Iruka, Akiko Yano, Hiromi Ota, Momoe Yamaguchi, Seiko Matsuda, ZARD, Eiichi Otaki, Masaharu Fukuyama, Rimi Natsukawa, Yuzo Kayama, Chage... and many others. He has also provided music for various artists and has composed music for many commercials.

In recent years, he has been actively touring solo live throughout Japan from Hokkaido to Okinawa and released the album "Relax & Slow - Natural Style" in the summer of 2014, which is a collection of songs expressing the soundscape of his travels.

In 2019, as his alias "Akogitei Chusuke", he presented the guitar rakugo "Rakugo and Guitar at Your Osoba".
In 2020, he released his original album "What Changed Me".
