While in college, she met Motoharu Sano and was taught to write songs and poems.
Participated in a female singer-songwriter contest sponsored by a university and won the best songwriting award for "綱渡り".
Taking this contest as an opportunity, she debuted from Nippon Columbia in June 1977 with the album "Funny Walkin'" co-written with Sano.
By 1979, she had released four solo albums and participated in the works of the most radical artists of the time, such as Moonriders and Kazuhiko Kato, and provided music to broaden the range of activities.
1980 Formed "SPY". Released the album "SPY" produced by Kazuhiko Kato.
After that, she started working in advertising, magazines, etc. as a professional photographer.
In 1986 Received a gold medal in a world calendar contest for for Nissan's international promotions.
Moved to Paris for 5 years from 1987.
In 1993 after returning to Japan, she resumed her musical activities for the first time in 15 years and released the album "Fear and loving". After that, she often works under the name of nanaco.
In 1996, released the album "LOVE IS A DRUG" in England, USA and Japan.
Released album "Luminous love in 23" from Bella UNion, the label of Cocteau Twins in England in 1998.
In 2001 the album "Sisiters on the riverbed" was released under the production of Mark Bingham (Grammy Award at REM).
She spreads her music not only in Japan, but also globally.
Her unique coquettish whisper-singing voice was recognized as an origin of the "Shibuya kei"
