PIZZICATO FIVE
Formed in 1984 by Yasuharu Konishi, Keitaro Takanami, Ryo Kamomiya, and Mamiko Sasaki. The following year, they made their debut with a 12-inch single "Audrey Hepburn Complex" produced by Haruomi Hosono. In 1987, Ryo Kamomiya and Mamiko Sasaki left. Takao Tajima(Original Love) participated from 1988 to 1990. In 1990, Maki Nomiya joined as a vocalist. In 1994, Keitaro Takanami left and became a unit of Konishi and Nomiya. Produced a number of hit songs such as "Sweet Soul Revue", "The Night is Still Young(Tokyo wa yoruno 7ji)" and "Baby Portable Rock", and being favored as one of the most influencial "Shibuya-kei" artists, they dominated the Japanese music scene in the 90s. Also, in May 1994, ep. "5x5" made its American debut, and the album "Made In USA" released in the fall sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. In February 1995 they made two world tours(10 cities in the United States, 4 cities in Europe) and in September 1997 (14 cities in the United States). After that, they continued to show their enthusiasm and extended their energetic activities, but in March 31, 2001, they released their third best album, "Pizzicato Five RIP Big Hits and Jet Lags 1998-2001" and then they put an end to their long history.
