自らのルーツである沖縄民謡に現代的な感覚を吹き込む新しい唄者
1985年、沖縄県生まれ。小学2年生から唄三線を習い始め、19歳で琉球國民謡協会の教師免許を取得するほどの腕前を持つ。2012年アルバム「唄者」で待望のメジャーデビュー。翌13年6月シングル「ソランジュ」を発売、7月FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL’13に初出場も音楽ファンの注目を集め、9月にセカンドアルバム「ニライカナイ」をリリース。今年7月にはサードアルバム「はじめての海」の発表と翌月は情熱大陸SPECIAL LIVE SUMMER TIME BONANZA'14へ初参加。個性溢れる表現力で、今後ますますの活躍が期待される。
~A New Singer Who is Breathing a Modern Sensibility into Okinawan Folk Music~
Born in 1985 in Okinawa Prefecture, Ayano Uema began learning the sanshin (a three-stringed Okinawan instrument that predates the Japanese shamisen) in the second grade of elementary school and she became so proficient at the instrument that she was able to obtain an instructors’ license from the Ryukyu Koku Minyo Kyokai at the age of 19. In 2012, she made her long-awaited recording debut with the album Utasha. In June 2013, she released the single Soranju, and the following month, she performed live at the Fuji Rock Festival, where she captured the attention of music fans. Then in September, her second album Niraikanai appeared. In July 2014, she released her third album Hajimete no Umi, and in August she appeared for the first time on the MBS TV program Jonetsu Tairiku, Special Live Summer Time Bonanza ’14. In future, we can expect many more activities from this talented young singer who exudes individuality and expressiveness.
